Real talk here. This is my first attempt at doing something like this. So bear with me. I guess my goal for this first post is just for you to get idea of who I am, as well as what my goal is for this blog.
So the last 3 years I’ve been competing in triathlon. I’m no superstar. I’m also no slouch. I’ve gotten quite a few age group medals in shorter distance. I’m nowhere near the top in longer distance Tri 😂! I will tell you, for these results, I have worked hard. I’m definitely a type A personality. I love training. I love competing. I do not love resting. Being physically active has brought great amounts of joy to me, and I do not regret it.
But this is not really a blog about training. I mean, it will come up plenty, as it’s a big part of my life. But as much as I love training, I also love ice cream. I mean really love it. There is nothing better on a summer evening than to go for a cruise in my Jeep with the top down with my hubby and get a nice peanut butter sundae!
See here’s the thing. It’s taken me years of learning to find balance in my life. And I still have to work at it. EVERY DAY. I have a full time job, a husband, dogs, friends. I love to travel. And as much as I want to succeed in my athletic pursuits, I also want to succeed in my personal relationships, and my relationship with food and my body. This is not always easy in world full of high expectations, diet culture, and social media. Ok, my type A personality might not help much…
So hopefully this gives you an idea about what this blog will be like. It’s about health, but maybe not the way everyone looks at it. Because sometimes you need to do yoga, and sometimes you run 10 miles. Some days you eat kale, and others you eat the ice cream. Yes, ALL the ice cream 🍨!
